Statement of compliance with the Record Keeping Plan

The University is committed to records-management practices that comply with relevant legislation and are in line with good professional practice. In accordance with the State Records Act 2000, UWA has a current approved Record Keeping Plan (RKP) and an approved Sector Disposal Authority (SDA) in place. In line with the approved RKP, UWA continues to develop and implement formal record keeping policies, processes and a technical training program, which is readily available to staff to assist them to meet their record keeping responsibilities.

More than 500 staff received record keeping training during 2016. The training program comprises group presentations, online supporting documentation, ad hoc workshops and one-to-one training.

Significant record keeping improvements and achievements in 2016 include:

  • The transition to managing the archival digital copy of student higher degree by research theses in TRIM*.
  • The reviewing and updating of all processes for managing position documentation electronically in TRIM including the implementation of electronic position history files.
  • The commencement of a project to appraise and dispose of inactive staff files. More than 750 boxes of inactive staff files were processed during 2016.
